Super Falcons coach Randy Waldrum has assured that his team will be ready to go past arch-rivals Ghana in a crucial 2022 African Women’s Championship eliminator in October.
The African champions used the Summer Series in the USA to prepare for the qualifier against the Black Queens of Ghana.
They drew 3-3 with Portugal and lost 1-0 to Jamaica and 2-0 to hosts USA.
Waldrum said he was pleased with the professionalism of the Falcons during this invitational tournament, which he believes has prepared them for the clash against Ghana.
“We will be in good place by the time October rolls around,” he said.
“These kind of games will prepare us, expose us where we are weak and where we have to improve.”
The Falcons coach said that even though his team fell 2-0 to USA in their final game of the Summer Series, they were competitive against the No 1 team in the world.
“We defended more as we expected, but it was a great effort, we were competitive against the top team in the world,” he remarked.
“It was a difficult game for us to attack because they had so much possession, they pin you in your end for so long and it’s difficult to counter efficiently.
“We would not get many chances, but we got a couple of opportunities and so I think we did the best we could with the way the game went and with the team we had.”
