Former Super Eagles forward Sone Aluko has announced his retirement from the game.
“I couldn’t think of a better place to end my career,” 35-year-old Aluko said at the Ipswich Town end of season dinner.
“From top to bottom the Club is amazing, and it has been a privilege to be here. I’ve not played as much as I would have liked, but this has still been the best year of my career.
“All of the lads, I love every one of you, even you, Harry Clarke (Ipswich manager who gave him little game time).”
Against all the odds, Ipswich have returned to the Premier League after a 22-year absence.
Aluko featured for Scottish giants Rangers, Aberdeen, Hull City and Fulham during an eventful career that also saw him capped by the Super Eagles.
