Jordan Torunarigha has said he is looking forward to a home win for his club Gent against Standard Liege today buoyed by his club’s 5-0 win in the UEFA Conference League.
On Thursday, Gent trounced Icelandic side Breidablik Kopavugar 5-0 to maintain top spot in their Conference League group.
They now need to win today against Standard to close in on front runners Union St.Gilloise and Anderlecht as they are five points adrift of the league leaders.
“We will fight for victory especially at home. The fans will see that we will do everything we can to show that we have our place at the top of the table,” vowed the big central defender, who made his Super Eagles debut against Mozambique recently after he changed international allegiance from Germany.
Torunarigha said Gent were fully focused on victory Thursday against the club from Iceland.
“We’re all happy. We were focused from the first minute and we immediately took control of the match,” he explained.
“Not much later the first, second and third goals followed. A big relief. After half-time we could score even more but… it’s an okay result.
“We want to continue on that path. Focus from the first minute.”
