Sports Minister John Owan Enoh has spoken for the first time on the outburst by Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in which he disrespected coach Finidi George.
The Sports Minister told Eagle7 FM Radio that he ordered the NFF not to make a pronouncement on the matter until they have heard from Osimhen.
“There has been a plethora of opinions on this,” he said.
“Osimhen is a Trojan for Nigeria, but it was a low.
“I told the NFF not to make a pronouncement on this before they have engaged Osimhen.
“This is so especially because these are not the best of times for Nigeria football and we have to manage a lot of things.
“The NFF have to be focused and not be distracted.”
Why are you teaching the NFF her job, this is subtle tilting towards an unruly player.
You may be the reason why some players misbehave otherwise you had no reason to interfere
We need to know if coach Finidi George actually castigated Victor or not. The strength of this knowledge will then show the direction where the sledgehammer should go
The morning ment that key players that shone like stars in the Afcon games were excluded, that was the beginning of failure. I did say that such an attitude would polarise our players, and it happened. Any football coach who is not a father figure will end up alienating important players. All hands should be on deck if we want to achieve success in all our matches.
Hon. Minister, you acted well. There should be maturity in handling the situation and you exhibited it very well in the situation
.
There can not be smoke without fire. Osimhen may be wrong and may be right to have reacted the way he did. It wasn’t just him who has disrespected Finidi. I remember a few of the players were angry with him during the friendlies for giving them a call up and the left them unused. Osimhen is matured enough to stand up for the rest but that’s not to say that he’s right or wrong. Finidi should be asked what really happened.
Minister I thank you for your advise because any leadership should not be quick in decision making to avoid more mistakes, I think Osimhen should be invited for interrogation before conclusion, he should stand trial before the NFF. Thanks and God bless you, we need a better flying eagles.
I love football and would like my voice heard
Finidi is out. It is time to move behind Finidi. There is always cla9⁹ims and counter claims in a situation like this.
Even if investigation get to the end what happens.
