West Bromwich Albion manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi and the rest of the team risk a huge pay cut should they be relegated from the Premier League this season.
“They could lose 50% of their salary or even bigger reductions if they failed to remain in the Premier League,” Allardyce said.
West Brom are second from bottom on the Premier League table, 11 points from safety with 13 rounds of matches yet to be played.
Allardyce lamented that the players do not seem to understand what will befall them should they be demoted back to the English Championship.
“This is their bread and butter and they ought to be more concerned,” he said.
Ajayi, 27, has made 24 appearances and scored twice for ‘The Baggies’ this season.
