It was a case of sharply different fortunes for Nigeria stars in Turkey as Anthony Nwakaeme scored again for Trabzonspor, while Okechukwu Azubuike posted a stinker for Sivasspor.
Trabzonspor won the home game 2-0 with veteran forward Nwakaeme grabbing the second goal in the 47th minute.
However, former Nigeria U23 captain Azubuike has to take the blame for the two goals his club conceded.
He gave away a penalty after just 13 minutes and was booked.
Then his poor clearance led to the home team’s second goal.
His misery was ended when he was replaced in the 54th minute.
Another Nigeria star, Olarenwaju Kayode, won the penalty for Sivasspor in the 70th minute, which was however lost.
Leke James was a late sub for Sivasspor.
Trabzonspor are second with six points from their first two matches, while Sivasspor languish in 18th place without any points so far.
