The chairman of the NPFL Gbenga Elegbeleye has disclosed that they hope that soon a player in the domestic league will earn a minimum monthly salary of a million Naira.
Last season, the minimum monthly wage as stipulated by the league organisers was 150,000 Naira.
This was increased to 250,000 Naira for the current season.
“We have been increasing the minimum wage of the players and we hope that soon that will be a million Naira for a player in the league,” Elegbeleye said in an interview on Eagle7fm sports radio.
Last season, the league organisers paid champions Enyimba 100 Million Naira and newly crowned champions Enugu Rangers will receive 150 Million Naira as prize money tomorrow in Jos.
