Enugu Rangers are now among the front runners for the NPFL title after they recorded a massive 3-0 win at champions Akwa United, just as Lobi Stars sacked coach Eddy Dombraye after they sunk into the relegation zone.
Rangers are now third on the table with 31 points from 18 matches, eight points behind leaders Rivers United.
“It was a good match which we came here to win and got the win, but I wished it was another team we beat in their home like this and not Akwa United as I still feel a part of me here in Uyo,” said Rangers coach Abdul Maikaba, who previously handled the Uyo outfit.
“They gave us a good fight but we had our plans coming into this game and it worked well for us.
“No doubt, the pitch helped us to carry out our plans and I am happy we got the win to keep us within a distance from the pacesetters.”
