Officials have told SCORENigeria that NFF are yet to accept the resignation letter of Finidi George as Super Eagles coach.
The letter was dated June 14, 2024.
However, it was unsigned and this got the NFF leadership to demand it be signed by Finidi to avoid any legal issues.
It was understood that the former Ajax winger has kicked against working under a foreign coach as this would be a vote of no confidence by his employers against him.
Finidi, 53, was presented to the public as the new Super Eagles coach on May 13 in Abuja.
He failed to win his first two official games – 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin earlier this month.
Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup are now in shambles as they languish second from bottom in a six-team group with three points from four matches.
Group leaders Rwanda, South Africa and Benin lead the standings with seven points apiece.
