A debate of who is a better player between Wilfred Ndidi and N’Golo Kante spiked in social media after Premier League leaders Chelsea outclassed hosts Leicester City 3-0.
Both defensive midfielders, who have long been compared to each other, came face-to-face in this Premier League clash.
Prior to the match, James Maddison had come out to pick Leicester City teammate Ndidi as a better player than Kante.
“I think Ndidi is the best in the Premier League at tackling and winning the ball back, bar none,” he remarked.
“I know Kante is a brilliant player. But actually winning the ball back and taking the ball off the opposition, I don’t think there is anyone better than Wilfred.”
But in Saturday’s match, Kante was a class above Ndidi, leading to various comments in his favour on social media.
“Why is he (Maddison) lying?” wondered @10_wanga after the match
“Kante is literally the best coming from the blind side of the opponent and nicking the ball off them and he is better on the ball unlike Ndidi,” argued @stunnathegoat
Ebenezer Bentum said: “The fact that he recognised Kante and mentioned his name alone means he’s ware Kante is better, but he said the opposite because Ndidi is his teammate – Kante is clear.”
“Ndidi might be a better tackler, Kante has other strengths that make him a better player overall,” added another fan.
Yet another fan added: “Maddison is just being bias! Kante has no match for the past four years. Ask Ndidi he will tell you the same thing.”
