NFF technical director Austin Eguavoen has assured more players from the NPFL will get their chance in the national team just as he addressed questions regarding the squad for a friendly against Mexico.
“Everybody can’t come in at the same time,” said Eguavoen.
“This is only the first game, other games might come and everybody will have equal opportunity.
“If we have left out some players this time, they should not feel so bad.”
The former Super Eagles coach also spoke on how he picked the players from the domestic league for the Mexico friendly on July 3 in Los Angeles, USA.
“Selection was a bit difficult because information came a little bit late, I have been to a few games, so too Paul (Aigbogun), and we penciled down a lot of players and I had to also rely on information from coaches that I know in the league,” he explained.
He said he has been impressed with the team’s first training in Abuja today, maintaining that the situation in under control despite the criticisms.
“First training was impressive, the players all looked very fit because they are in season,” he said.
“They are catching up, nothing to worry about.”
Meanwhile, Rivers United striker Sunday Adetunji is one of three players who have been handed late call-ups for the match against Mexico.
