Confidence is running very high in the Super Eagles so much so that goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has declared that they can beat any team and hope to go all the way to the AFCON final in Cameroon.
On Tuesday, the Eagles boosted their self-belief with a deserved 1-0 victory over the most successful team in the tournament Egypt.
“This was just the first game (vs Egypt), we have six more games to play,” a confident Okoye declared.
“We were great as a team.
“Next against Sudan, we want the three points and a clean sheet, which is a sign of great defending.
“We can beat anybody, if we stayed at the same level.
“We just have to stay focused and work hard.”
Shot stopper Okoye, who has now signed for Premier League club Watford but back on loan at Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam, has held on to his No 1 shirt despite competition from Francis Uzoho and Daniel Akpeyi.
