Japan came from behind to beat Brazil 2-1 in a most dramatic fashion to leave the Paris Olympics women’s football event Group C, which also has the Super Falcons of Nigeria, delicately poised.
Brazil have three points from two matches after they beat Nigeria 1-0 in their opening group game Thursday.
Japan, world champions in 2011, also have three points in this campaign after they fell 2-1 to Spain in the group opener.
They failed to put away a penalty in the first half, before they made up for this by converting a second spot kick in additional time.
They will then conjure a deserved winner also in stoppage time.
Their final group game will be against the Super Falcons.
