Speculations are rife that everything is being done to stop Nigeria at all costs at the U20 AFCON qualifiers in Benin Republic.
The Flying Eagles have contested the Covid-19 test results which led to the isolation of two players, Chisom Orji and Olawale Farayola, on the premise that they posted positive results.
The team are now awaiting the results of a fresh Coronavirus test they insisted on.
It would be recalled that only last week Plateau United protested against Tanzanian club Simba SC after star striker Sunday Adetunji reportedly turned in a positive Coronavirus result just before kick-off of their crucial second leg Champions League preliminary round match.
A fresh test later revealed that Adetunji did not have Coronavirus.
The fate of the Flying Eagles in the qualifying tournament in Porto Novo hangs on the result of tomorrow’s final Group B match between Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire.
Ghana lead the three-team group with three points, while Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire are on a point each.
Despite losing 1-0 to arch-rivals Ghana on Wednesday, the Flying Eagles could still make it to the semifinals should Ghana beat the Ivorians by no less than 2-0 tomorrow.
