French outfit Racing Club de Lens have confirmed the signing of Nigerian defensive midfielder Hamzat Ojediran, who they described as “a true force of nature’
The combative midfielder, 20, has signed a four-year contract and has joined from Hungarian giants Debrecen VSC, where he played on loan last season, before signing a permanent deal.
The Emmanuel Amuneke Academy graduate impressed at Debrecen, playing in 14 out of their final 17 games, putting in a good shift in the midfield, and winning duels, and was even named Player of the Season.
Last year, the former Holden Eaglets star trained with the Flying Eagles, but did not make the final cut.
RC Lens general manager remarked; “We are pleased to announce the signing of Hamzat Ojediran for the next four seasons.
“A revelation in the Hungarian championship in 2023/24, Hamzat is a true force of nature. An explosive and athletic midfielder, he is an aggressive ball-winner in the good sense of the word.
“His determination and commitment on the pitch correspond exactly to what is expected of an RC Lens player.
“The recruitment of Hamzat is part of the club’s policy of also focusing on emerging players with interesting potential.
“Welcome Hamzat!”
