The Flying Eagles today posted an encouraging performance to beat Cosmos FC 4-2 in a test game preparatory to next month’s U20 AFCON qualifiers in Niger Republic.
The Nigeria U20s are barely a week old in training camp in Abuja, but posted a decent outing with several individual players catching the eye.
Striker Ahmed Abdullahi, Gombe United playmaker Aminu Mohammed as well as Akwa United central defender Bolu Sholumade were most outstanding.
Both Abdullahi from the Golden Eaglets Class of 2021 as well as Aminu Mohammed hit target, while Sholumade was flawless in the heart of a starting back four made up of players from the NPFL.
Sholumade, who is on loan to Akwa United from NNL side Ottasolo, was the pillar of the Flying Eagles defence with his superb composure and assuredness.
Coach Ladan Bosso said he was very impressed with his defence.
The Flying Eagles other scorers were substitute Adams Yakubu and Aliyu Abdullahi.
The team will play several test games before their departure to Niger Republic.
