The Flying Eagles are now in limbo as regards the qualifying campaign for the 2021 U20 AFCON after Togo pulled out as hosts of the WAFU zonal qualifiers citing concerns over the Coronavirus Pandemic.
An official press statement from the Togo Football Federation today said the country could no longer stage the zonal qualifiers for the U20 AFCON slated to kick off on November 18 because of the surge of Coronavirus cases recently.
This means the Flying Eagles as well as six other countries set to feature in this qualifying series will have to wait for a new host country as well as new dates.
The Nigeria U20s have been training in Abuja for the past two weeks preparatory to the tournament in Togo.
They were billed to open their qualifying campaign on November 19 against Cote d’Ivoire.
Arch-rivals Ghana are the other team in Group B.
