Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso has expressed confidence the team have put behind them a 1-0 loss to Senegal on the opening day of the U20 AFCON and will fight to get past Group A.
This was the first loss in 20 matches for the Junior Eagles since they qualified for the U20 AFCON.
“I trust the team and their ability to qualify for the next round (of the U20 AFCON), and that we will achieve our biggest goal, which is to reach the World Cup,” Bosso vowed.
Bosso’s team will hope to get their campaign back on track tomorrow night against hosts Egypt.
KAA Gent striker Ahmed Abdullahi is suspended after he was sent off against Senegal, while midfielder Daniel Daga is a major injury doubt after he was forced out of Sunday’s West African Derby.
Egypt were held to a scoreless draw by Mozambique in their opening Group A match Sunday.
The top two teams from each of the three groups will qualify automatically for the quarterfinals as well as two third best losers.
Kick-off time for the Flying Eagles vs Egypt clash Wednesday is 6pm in Nigeria.
