The Flamingoes will this afternoon take on New Zealand in a crucial Group B tie as they hope to get their 2022 U17 World Cup campaign back on track after an opening day loss to European champions Germany.
Both Nigeria and New Zealand lost their opening day matches – the Flamingoes fell 2-1 to Germany, while New Zealand lost 3-1 to Chile.
Victory today for the team, who scored 15 goals in the African qualifiers and conceded none, will not only earned them three points but also boost their self-belief.
Kick-off time in India is 12 noon in Nigeria.
“We will give this game our all because the result will determine how far we go at the World Cup,” said skipper Alvine dah Zossu.
Coach Bankole Olowookere said the players are upbeat and determined to win.
