The Flamingoes will now only need to avoid defeat to Chile Monday in their last group game to advance to the quarterfinal of this year’s U17 World Cup in India.
The Nigerian girls bounced back from a 2-1 loss to Germany on the opening day of the tournament after they spanked New Zealand 4-0.
They are now second in their group with three points and a superior goals difference than third-placed Chile, who beat New Zealand on the opening day 3-1.
Chile were battered 6-0 by Germany in their second game today.
As a result, it will be winner takes it all when both Nigeria and Chile clash on Monday.
Germany are already through to the last-eight with six points.
