New Super Eagles coach Finidi George is expected to spring a few surprises in his starting XI against South Africa tonight.
The former Ajax winger has favoured the 4-3-3 formation with emphasis on wing play and individual brilliance upfront.
SCORENigeria scooped that Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu will lead the Super Eagles strike force ahead of Bayer Leverkusen star Victor Boniface, who prefers to play as a second striker.
Victor Boniface and Terem Moffi from OGC Nice will therefore start from the bench.
Onuachu, who scored 15 goals and made four assists in 21 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig this past season, will be supported by Ademola Lookman and Kelechi Iheanacho on the wings.
He has scored thrice in 21 caps for the Super Eagles since his debut in March 2019.
We have already reported that another Turkey-based star, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, will most likely be a part of a midfield trio of Frank Onyeka and Alex Iwobi.
In the defence will be fullbacks Bright Osayi-Samuel and Calvin Bassey, while stand-in captain Wilfred Ndidi and Semi Ajayi play in central defence.
Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali will keep his place in goal after his heroics at the AFCON in February.
Kick-off is 8pm.
