Victor Osimhen should start ahead of Victor Boniface for the Super Eagles in today’s 2025 AFCON qualifier against Rwanda in Kigali, according to Supersport pundit Segun Agbede.
Victor Boniface started against Benin Saturday before he was replaced by Osimhen, who went on to score the Super Eagles in a 3-0 home win.
“I will start Osimhen (vs Rwanda)because Boniface was lost probably because he gets a lot more support at his club Bayer Leverkusen,” Agbede said on Monday Night Football on Supersport
Some viewers of the programme also took to social media to demand that Osimhen start against Rwanda.
Osimhen has now netted 22 goals for the Super Eagles, only outscored by the legendary Rashidi Yekini, who has the all-time record of 37 goals.
Former African Footballer of the Year Victor Ikpeba also predicted a 1-0 win for the Super Eagles in Rwanda today.
“They should carry on with the momentum from the win over Benin,” he said.
“But we can’t afford to underrate Rwanda, who lead our World Cup group.”
Well .ii would have started boni still to make up for his errors and after in the second half bring in the killer squad..to win the game .. I think even some guys on the bench that can come in also in the first half even if there suppose to be a change in the 1st eleven. But my killer squad wil be prepared to come in .. later . Reason to keep Dem away from injury. Another to expose my non performing guys to playing time .to justify their non invitation in consequent matches.
And gain this Rwanda game is not a priority game . But the coach wil not want to risks it because it wil be used to grade him hence he won’t take this tablet I am giving him. He wil want to win for the fans , the NFF and his job and assistants .
