Initial information gathered by SCORENigeria is that a top corporate sponsor has been sourced that will foot the salary of a new Super Eagles coach.
A top official further told SCORENigeria that the new sponsor is one of the country’s leading banks.
It is still a developing story and more details will only be known later.
It would be recalled that the NFF got oil company Aiteo to pay the salaries of Gernot Rohr, when he was in charge of the Super Eagles, as well as the other national teams.
That sponsorship has since ran out thus making it increasingly difficult for the NFF to pay national team coaches regularly.
Another official told SCORENigeria that the delay in the appointment of a new coach for the Super Eagles has been bogged down by the poor finances of the football federation.
“I believe that lack of money is partly behind the delay in appointing a new foreign coach,” he told SCORENigeria
“It needed the Federal Government to clear 13 months’ salaries of (Jose) Peseiro this year.
“That must not happen again.”
Herve Renard, one of the foreign coaches shortlisted for the top Super Eagles post, has ruled himself out because he said the NFF cannot afford him.
