Super Eagles coach Finidi George has been ordered to report today in Abuja for a meeting that will involve his immediate employers, the NFF, and the country’s Sports Minister, John Enoh.
SCORENigeria specially learnt that this is on the special request of the Sports Minister
This is the aftermath of the country’s tottering qualification campaign to the 2026 World Cup that has now taken away Nigeria’s destiny from their own hands.
After Jose Peseiro failed to win the first two qualifiers at home against Lesotho and away in Zimbabwe last November, his successor Finidi also did not far much better as they drew 1-1 at home to South Africa, before a shock 2-1 loss to lowly Benin.
The Super Eagles now languish second from bottom of Group C with three points, four points adrift of leaders Rwanda with South Africa and Benin also on seven points.
Now the tall order is for Nigeria to win their remaining six matches next year, while also hoping the front runners also drop more points on the road to the 2026 World Cup in USA, Canada and Mexico.
