SC Heerenveen star winger Chidera Ejuke has joined other players in the Dutch league to take a pay cut and save their clubs at least 35 million Euros after the season was called off on account of the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Players and officials accepted pay cuts of between 2.5% and 20% depending on their salaries.
The Dutch FA, KNVB, disclosed that the clubs will lose as much as 300 million Euros after the league season was called off prematurely because of the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The clubs will lose more money whenever the new season begins because matches will be played without spectators.
KNVB have asked for a lifeline from the government, who in turn demanded that the clubs and players first give up on their benefits before they could assist.
