Chidera Ejuke scored on his official debut for Dutch club SC Heerenveen with compatriot Hamdi Akujobi also making his first bow in a thumping 4-0 win at Heracles today.
Ejuke, who cost the Dutch club two million Euros from Norwegian club Valerenga, was introduced in the 67th minute and scored the fourth goal on 90 minutes.
Akujobi, 19, who came through the Heerenveen youth ranks, was a 73rd minute substitute on the opening day of the season in Holland.
Akujobi, playing as an attacking midfielder, came close to scoring his first official goal in the 78th minute, when he fired at goal after a superb combination play only to be denied by a brilliant save by the goalkeeper.
The 19-year-old son of former footballer Chika Conleth Akujobi has been fully involved in Heerenveen’s pre-season training, which included a trip to England.
Ironically, Akujobi senior had featured for Heracles in his playing days.
