SCORENigeria can exclusively reveal that Chelsea have agreed to sell Kenneth Omeruo to La Liga club CD Leganes for five million Pounds.
This was after two other bids by Leganes were rejected by Chelsea, a top source in Madrid informed SCORENigeria
This transfer will effectively end the seven years Omeruo has spent at Stamford Bridge without kicking a ball in an official game for ‘The Blues’.
Chelsea have shipped out the 25-year-old defender on loan since 2012, when he signed from Belgian club Standard Liege.
He has played on loan at English Championship side Middlesbrough, in Holland as well as in Turkey.
Last season, the Chelsea loanee Omeruo stood out for Leganes to stay up in the Spanish top flight.
The Madrid club also had an option to buy him on a permanent basis at the end of the loan spell.
He told SCORENigeria he wishes to stay put at Leganes because he has improved as a player and enjoys the confidence and trust of the coach.
“I wish to stay back in La Liga to keep improving,” said Omeruo, who made 28 appearances in La Liga last season.
“Playing last season in La Liga helped my confidence, my game all round, because I played in a team where the coach believed in me, he took time to explain a lot of things to me.”
