The Super Eagles have named a “killer squad” for an AFCON qualifier in Porto-Novo on March 27, but the home team are confident they can still cause a famous upset by invoking the spirits of their gods through juju.
A former staffer of the Benin Football Federation told SCORENigeria: “Why do you want to kill us with this squad packed with all your professionals?
“Is it that you want to qualify directly for the AFCON in Benin?
“Your team can do it, but it won’t be easy.
“Here in Benin we believe in ‘African media’ (another name for juju) and we will give you a very big match.
“Nigeria have to prepare themselves spiritually too or else they will be telling another story.”
Nigeria are unbeaten and top the qualifying group with eight points, a point ahead of Benin, who are hard pressed to win so as to distance themselves from third-placed Sierra Leone, who will host them in a final qualifier in Guinea on March 31.
