Benin have shifted the release of a final squad for a 2021 AFCON qualifier against the Super Eagles to Thursday following serious uncertainties that more than half of the call-ups may not be available no thanks to travel restrictions caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Benin were originally scheduled to name their final squad today.
However, with the bulk of their squad drawn from France, whose government has imposed a mandatory 7-day quarantine for any person who travels out of Europe, they may be without many of them as clubs now have the option not to release their players for international duty on health grounds.
According to Gaskiyani info, coach Michel Dussuyer will use the next two days to ascertain the players who will be available for the match against the Super Eagles on March 27 in Porto-Novo as well as against Sierra Leone in Conakry, Guinea, on March 30.
Benin, second in the qualifying group with seven points, will qualify for the 2021 AFCON with a win over the Eagles in Porto-Novo.
