The Super Eagles captain opened scoring against Sunshine Stars after just five minutes, before he doubled the lead in the 51st minute.
He had a chance to complete his hat-trick on 70 minutes, but his penalty kick came off the post.
Pillars now have seven points from five matches.
Another standout individual performance today was that of Michael Ogu, who also fired a double for Heartland to record their first win of the season against visiting Niger Tornadoes.
The home win lifted Heartland from the relegation zone as they now have four points from five games.
Rivers United toppled Remo Stars at the summit of the NPFL after they stopped Akwa United 2-1 and Remo fell by the odd goal at Kwara United.
The match between Enyimba and Katsina United was suspended until tomorrow after the floodlights ta the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba failed.
The home team were leading 3-0 before the game was called off by the 75th minute.
There were also home wins for Plateau United (1-0 vs Ikorodu City) and Enugu Rangers (1-0 vs Abia Warriors).
