Barnsley FC manager Valerien Ismael has said he is confident that Daryl Dike will build on his performance and adaptation to the English Championship after his debut for the club in an FA Cup tie against Chelsea.
The Nigerian-American, who joined the England Championship side on loan from MLS side Orlando City, featured for 30 minutes in the game they lost 1-0 to Premier League side Chelsea.
Ismael admitted that the 20-year-old US international had some initial problems adapting, but showed some positivity towards the end of the game, the performance the manager believes Dike will build on.
“It was important for him, first of all, to adapt to the way we need to play,” he said.
“At the beginning, he had some problems and then it was not so bad and at the end, it was much, much better.
“We could see what we believed in him, with his power, speed and physicality to give us more options in our front three.” Ismael said.
Barnsley will travel to Brentford in the league today.
