Cameroon needed a late winner by Mbomezomo Yvana to edge this keenly contested friendly staged at the Military Stadium in Yaounde.
There was a debut for England-based goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor, while Gift Monday and Ngozi Okobi made their comebacks to the Super Falcons.
Both teams will clash again Tuesday as they prepare for next month’s WAFCON in Morocco, which will also serve as a qualifying tournament for next year’s World Cup in Brazil.
Last year, 10-time African champions Nigeria beat their Cameroonian counterparts 2-0 in a friendly in Abeokuta courtesy of a brace by captain Rasheedat Ajibade.
