Anthony Nwakaeme helped his Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor break a jinx of not beating Gerclerbirligi in the last eight years as he scored one of the goals in a 2-0 away win at the weekend.
Both Turkish clubs have met five times in the last eight years before Saturday’s game with Gerclerbirligi winning twice, while three games ended in draws.
Trabzonspor are now top of the league table with 41 points in 20 games.
Nwakaeme scored in the 83rd minute to seal the victory.
He has now scored eight goals in the league, two in the Turkey Cup and a goal in the UEFA Europa League.
