Coach and owner of top Nigerian women’s club FC Robo Queens, Emmanuel Osahon, has said the Super Falcons are not a united team at the Paris 2024 Olympics after several players were dropped from the squad.
“The Super Falcons are not united, there is no continuity as five, six of the players who qualified them for the Olympics were dropped,” Osahon stated.
“This could work against the team at the Olympics.”
Gift Monday was one of the players who featured in the qualifiers but did not make the final 18-person squad, while striker Chinonyerem Macleans was not involved on the road to Paris 2024.
Lagos-based FC Robo started out Super Falcons skipper Rasheedat Ajibade, Asisat Oshala and Chidinma Okeke, who all made the cut.
The nine-time African champions will begin their Paris Olympics campaign Thursday against Brazil in Bordeaux.
Kick-off time is 6pm in Nigeria.
Any “Coach” who made this comment is not even fit to be a football spectator, not to even talk of to be called a coach. Every team at the Olympics are allowed to register only 18 players, that is automatically 5 short of the usual 23 or 8 less of the 25 used nowadays. Some players got injuries and very few others were dropped for more in-form players.
Careless comment from a supposed coach.. that’s why none of them can handle the National team
My Brother did you see that?
That’s the effect of the society she mingles with in Nigeria. If your player is not playing well why do you have to force her into a star studded National Team. She’s lost the cola the lady will give her after the Olympics. Period.
My brother you are right, some people just feel because they have money, they can make any comment. He is not a footballer. I believe the coach is responsible for the player we wants to feature and he goes for the ones that can give him results and not name. When Assisat Osh., was dropped during the qualifiers, did anybody complain? Rather they commented that she was not in good form. But for more than 2 matches in Bay FC, she played very well and even scored. That’s was why she made the team. Please don’t mind that man
I believe he’s not a coach either. Ashley and one other player are nursing injury. The team coach knows why he dropped the other three. I think those he is referring might be some of those that do settle him from their allowances. Those who left Nigeria to play overseas from his academy. That’s the type of self-centered coaches we have in Nigeria. He’s already having bad excuse should the girls not go far. Bad man.
Are you sure he is the coach? No SANE coach would speak about his team that is to play just a day after.
What a LOSER!
I PITY the team and i pity Nigeria. The man should be fired straight away 😞 😡
He is not the Nigerian team coach. He is a coach for a female club in Nigeria. He does not realize that you can take only 18 players to the Olympics. Just ignorance.
