SCORENigeria can authoritatively report that former coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Antonio Conceicao, was the No 1 choice to lead the Super Eagles following the exit of Jose Peseiro.
The Portuguese coach led Cameroon to finish third at the delayed 2021 AFCON, where the Indomitable Lions fought back to finish third two years ago.
He could now be back in the frame to be appointed the technical adviser the NFF will propose to the Sports Minister John Enoh in Abuja today.
The NFF rose from a hurriedly called emergency board meeting in Abuja Wednesday to decide that Finidi George needs a more experienced man for the Super Eagles to start winning games again.
A source told SCORENigeria: “Conceicao was the first choice of the NFF technical committee before the talk that a local coach be employed in line with the wishes of generality of Nigerians.
“He was in the list of five coaches first submitted to the NFF executive committee and his name was also put forward when the short list was trimmed to three coaches.”
This funny NFF should take full blame of the shameful position of Nigeria today in international stage as far as football is concerned.. Check all my past comments. In those comments this group of NFF was warned to avoid anything that will lead to failure in Nigeria football but they all have other selfish plans, so Nigerians can end in blazes. Nemeses got them very quickly. Nigeria govt should as a matter of urgency do the needful to the present bunch of joy destroyers called NFF.
It’s over for Nigeria. In their current form, the super ragoons can’t even beat the Harambee Stars of Kenya. We petty them.Really can’t believe it’s the Nigeria I know.
This is a very excellent decision by the minister and the NFF. When Peseiro couldn’t do very how could his student Finidi do well. His FIRST failure or mistake was when he removed Daniel Amokachi from his team by downgrading him. How could you remove a MATCH READER like Amokachi from your team unless you are delusional?😠
Please the NFF should go ahead and employ the former Cameroun Coach immediately 😠
Why must we wait until we are in tight rope before taking good decisions. Nigerian fans love super Eagles so much that’s why they are drunk in high tensions during matches. Now it will only take the grace of God for Nigeria to qualify for world cup.
