Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has raised a number of concerns ahead of Friday night’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against South Africa in Uyo.
Siasia has predicted a tough game for the Super Eagles as they will be without star striker Victor Osimhen and unlike Bafana Bafana of South Africa, the home team will be rebuilding after the AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire earlier this year.
“It will be difficult (for the Super Eagles) as they will be without key players like (Victor)Osimhen and while South Africa will be coming with the same coach and players, we have a new coach,” Siasia predicted.
The coach also said the Super Eagles will be under additional pressure after they dropped four points last November with two draws in their opening World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
The Super Eagles and Bafana Bafana played out a dramatic penalty shootout in the semifinal of the AFCON in February after both teams were tied at 1-1 in regulation time.
In the 2026 World Cup qualifying series Group C, the South Africans have three points from two matches, while Nigeria have recorded two points.
Kick-off of Friday match in Uyo is 8pm.
