Austria-based forward Sunday Faleye has told SCORENigeria he is delighted with another chance to represent Nigeria after he joined up with the U23s in time for the U23 AFCON playoff against Sudan.
“I am honoured to join the U23 team and promise to give my best for the team,” he said on arrival in Abuja Sunday night.
The former Shooting Stars winger features for FC Wacker Innsbruck.
This is a return to the national team setup for Faleye after he represented the country at the 2018 CHAN in Morocco.
The U23s will face their Sudanese counterparts in Khartoum on September 6 and four days later in Nigeria with the overall winners through to the U23 AFCON in Egypt in November.
The tournament serves as a qualifier for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Nigeria are the defending champions after they won the 2015 championship in Senegal.
