Nigeria strikers, from England to Italy, painted Europe with goals this past weekend to further prove the depth of scoring talent at the disposal of Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.
5.Terem Moffi
He smashed home his ninth goal in Ligue 1 at RC Lens Sunday to make him only second behind ‘Simy’ Nwankwo among the leading Nigeria scorers in Europe’s Top 5 Leagues. He again posted a good performance, rated 7.4 and was denied a penalty which could have changed the course of this 4-1 loss at Lens. Little wonder the FC Lorient coach questioned the officiating of this encounter.
4.Simy Nwankwo
He has netted his 16th goal in the Italian top flight and this was for the worst team in that league. Crotone have kept losing but that has not stopped the goals from the big boot of ‘Simy’ that several top clubs including Genoa are already casting their eyes on him for the upcoming season. The other poser is does he still have a future with the Super Eagles after he last featured at the World Cup three years ago?
3.Kelechi Iheanacho
‘Seniorman Kels’ scored twice for Leicester City, but it was not enough to get them a result at West Ham United in the Premier League. He is currently enjoying the most productive patch of his career. His goals – six in his last five Premier League games – will be crucial in ensuring ‘The Foxes’ stay within the Top 4 to feature in the UEFA Champions League come next season.
2.Victor Osimhen
The power-playing striker got his fifth goal in Serie A after a difficult start to life in Italy as Napoli won 2-0 at Sampdoria. A lot more goals will be expected as his club battle for a top finish in this campaign. That’s the only way to justify his record transfer fee of over 80 million Euros this past summer.
1.Paul Onuachu
On Sunday, the Genk giant striker notched his 27th goal in the Belgian league. He has also scored once in the Belgium Cup and not to forget his two strikes for the Super Eagles last month to take his tally to 30 goals in all competitions this season. Surely, it’s now just a matter of time when he will move to a bigger club in a bigger league.
