Lionel Messi is crowded by Etebo and Ahmed Musa at the World Cup

Eagles stand-in captain Ahmed Musa has revealed he is excited to be part of the AFCON double-header against Libya, which could qualify the country to next year’s tournament.

A win home and away for Nigeria against the North Africans beginning tomorrow in Uyo will qualify the Eagles to the 2019 AFCON after they missed out on the last two tournaments.

“For me personally, this is the kind of game I love playing and I am ready come Saturday to win,” he said.

“We know the importance of the game and so we can’t afford not to win because we have not qualified on two occasions to the AFCON, we need to push harder till we have done so.

“All that Nigerians want from us as a team is to win.

“I and my colleagues the players are determined and focused to do that.”

Udinese defender William Ekong said the Eagles are looking forward to the game tomorrow.

“I see a team who are fit to take Nigerians to victory,” he said.

“This is a team with a lot of young, talented players.

“We went to the World Cup and we are back together for the AFCON qualifiers, it speaks a lot for the whole team.

“I thank God we have made good progress and we will continue to work hard to achieve more good results.”
