Odion Ighalo looks set to defy his critics on Saturday against Libya after he scored four goals in Super Eagles training today in Uyo with Stoke City star Oghenekaro Etebo also netting a super goal.
Ighalo and Russia-based defender Bryan Idowu were the last set of players to join the squad today and all 24 players trained this evening.
Everton loanee to Turkish champions Gaatasaray Henry Onyekuru as well as hard grafting Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi were also in their element in the team’s first training ahead of the clash against the North Africans.
The big crowd of fans was treated to some good football by the Super Eagles at the practise pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
Alex Iwobi was mobbed by the adoring fans, who took selfies and chanted ‘Arsenal! Arsenal!!” after the dazzling forward.
Chuka Iwobi, the player’s father, told SCORENigeria he was proud both as father as well as a Nigerian with the love shown his son.
“Alex is loved by the nation and he also loves Nigeria,” he said.
“The love of the fans is remarkable.
“He playing for Nigeria is a privilege and a joy for his family.”
He has also predicted an Eagles win on Saturday.
