Katsina United vs Kano Pillars in the NPFL

Katsina United will hope on Wednesday in Lagos to continue their fascinating run in this year’s Aiteo Cup when they square up against Northwest rivals Kano Pillars for a place in the final of the cup competition.

Katsina United, who are unbeaten in the last three Aiteo Cup games, are seeking their first win over Kano Pillars, who have dominated in all their three meetings this season.

Coach Abdullahi Biffo’s team have only managed a draw with Pillars in their three meetings this season.

Katsina United, who are still basking in the euphoria of their 3–1 triumph over a stubborn Kwara United in the quarter final, will throw everything to this game as it is an opportunity to avenge the 3–1 defeat they suffered at the hands of Pillars in the NPFL matchday 22 decided at Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.

Pillars, who defeated Enyimba 4–2 in the quarterfinal, will hope to maintain their superiority over Katsina United by winning this epic clash

The main battle in this crunch tie will be in the midfield, where the likes of Destiny Ashadi, Lukman Muhammed and Usman Barau of Katsina United will have to be at their best so as to subdue the vast experience of Rabiu Ali, Hillary Ikenna and the energetic Flying Eagles star Alhassan Ibrahim.

Coach Biffo told www.fckatsinaunited.com that it’s going to be an interesting game for the fans to enjoy because both teams play good football.

“Yes, the game would be an interesting one because both teams play good football and I believe it’s going to leave up to its billing as it is the biggest North-West Derby in the land,” he said.

“My players are aware of the importance of the game, I am sure they will give their best and won’t disappoint Katsina people.

Team News

Biffo has confirmed that there are no injury worries in his team, apart from few of them who got minor knocks in the last match but they are all recovering.

Previous Meetings

This is the first time both teams are meeting in the Aiteo Cup.

However, they have clashed three times this season this season, twice in the league and once at the Alhan Pre-Season Tournament in Kano.

Pillars won twice in Kano and forced Katsina United to a 2 – 2 draw in the first match of the season at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina
