Katsina United chairman Aminu Balele Kurfi has saluted the character of his players after they beat Kwara United 3 – 1 to qualify for the Aiteo Cup semifinal.
Katsina United will on Wednesday in Lagos take on the winners of the quarterfinal between Enyimba and Kano Pillars for a place in the Aiteo Cup final.
The SSA Sports to Katsina State Governor Kurfi told www.fckatsinaunited.com:”I knew my boys would always rise to the occasion when it matters most.
“They are a set of young players who are willing to make name for themselves. They have proved to the whole world that football also thrives in Katsina State.”
The seasoned administrator added that he was not surprised with what the team have achieved thus far because they have shown the character of champions in the league.
“Yes, I was not surprised at all with what the team has achieved today,” he said.
“When you look at the way the boys played in the league, you would be compelled to conclude that they would achieve something great in the nearest future.
“I appreciate the support of the state governor Rtd. Hon. Aminu Masari because he is the major pillar behind our successes.
“I must also say kudos to the entire team for their doggedness.”
‘Dan Arewa’, as he is popularly called, has transformed the fortunes of Katsina State football since he assumed office by promoting Katsina United to the Premier League.
He also ensured the team from Katsina finished second in the LALIGA/NPFL U15 Tournament last year.
Under his supervision, Katsina United Feeders also won promotion to the NNL from the Nationwide League.
