The anxiously-awaited MRI age tests for the Golden Eaglets has been delayed just as the dates for the U17 AFCON zonal qualifiers in Niger are now known.
The Eaglets have been flying in test games, but will need to verify the ages of the players with an MRI scan, which has yet to be done despite an approval.
A top team official told SCORENigeria the delay could well have been caused by the leadership crisis which has again rocked the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
As a result of this delay, there are still over 60 players in the team’s training camp in Abuja.
In the meantime, SCORENigeria has now been told that the West African zonal qualifiers in Niger which will produce the team to feature at the 2019 U17 AFCON in Tanzania, will be staged from September 2 to 14.
Nigeria, Ghana, hosts Niger, Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Togo and Burkina Faso will battle for the sole ticket to Tanzania 2019.
