Tikitaka Academy have jetted out of Nigeria with a promise to be worthy representatives of the country at this year’s Gothia Cup in Sweden.
TikiTaka are again the only Nigerian team at this year’s tournament.
The 18-man squad departed Abuja Thursday night for Sweden via Istanbul, Turkey, with an 18-man squad.
They will begin their quest to win the Gothia Cup on Monday evening, when they take on IF Elfsborg of Sweden at the SK Arena.
They will then tackle CCL Academy of the USA in their next Group 5 game on Tuesday, before they round up the group stage the following day against another Swedish club IF Brommapojkarna.
Last year, they lost 1-0 to Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy in the final of the U17 Elite category.
This will be their third participation in the annual global youth competition.
