Star striker Ajibola Otegbeye has made a passionate plea to the Sunshine Stars management to rise to the team’s immediate challenge to avoid relegation from the NPFL.
The Akure club are in danger of relegation as they are 18th on the league table after 24 rounds of matches.
And Otegbeye said his bosses must now roll up their sleeves to ensure ‘The Owena Waves’ are not demoted.
“Sunshine Stars must not be relegated as it won’t speak well for anybody’s CV,” said the striker, who has returned to a second spell at the Akure club.
“The players and coaches are working hard to avoid the drop, but it seems their efforts are not complimented by the management.
“Most teams have resumed but Sunshine Stars are yet to resume due to some issues which I believe the people in power should have solved before now.
“Teams who are comfortable on the table are back in training, but Sunshine Stars who are 18th on the table are still on break. Teams are already preparing for the resumption of the league, but we are there relaxing as if nothing is as stake.
“Let us all wake up from our sleep and take this team to the position they rightly belong.
“Let’s fight together, work together and prove people wrong.”
