Nur Mohammed – From El Kanemi Warriors youth team to CHAN Eagles in Morocco and now NPFL debut

Nur Mohammed, who at 15 was the youngest player at the recent CHAN in Morocco, could make his NPFL debut today after he was named in the traveling party for El Kanemi Warriors at Enugu Rangers.

The El Kanemi Warriors Feeder team graduate was named among the 20-man squad selected to make the trip to Enugu by the former Enugu Rangers coach Imama Amapakabo.

Imama said, “See I was with Nur for over four weeks in Morocco at the CHAN and he proved to me he is ready for the big time.

“In football, the maturity shown on and off the ball by a player is by far more important than the age on his passport so I am not worried.”

The coach also expressed hope that the performance of Nur Mohammed over the next few weeks would instill more confidence in coaches to give youth a chance.

He said, “I remember giving young players like Nwobodo and Etor a chance while I was at Enugu Rangers and we won the league, so now with Nur it’s no difference.”

On his part, the player gave thanks to God for bringing Coach Imama to El Kanemi Warriors and also for the unforgettable experience of representing Nigeria at such a major competition.

He made two appearances in Morocco.

“I am very grateful to Allah for bringing coach Imama to Maiduguri and I also want to thank my coach for believing so much in my capacity to deliver despite my age,” he told SCORENigeria

“The 2018 CHAN would forever remain in my memory but this weekend, it’s all about repaying the faith coach Imama has in me by putting in a shift on the field if called upon.

“It’s every player’s dream to get on the scoresheet, so scoring on my debut would be a dream come true for me.”
