MFM FC coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has told SCORENigeria his team will attack hosts AS Real Real Bamako in tomorrow’s CAF Champions League preliminary round tie in Mali.
“We will surely give our opponents a fight right from blast of the whistle. We are not going to defend, we are an attacking team with great character,” maintained a confident Ilechukwu.
“We are aware that we are the underdogs in the CAF Champions League, but we will also recall that we finished runners-up in the NPFL last season even though nobody gave us a chance.
“We have worked throughout the week to ensure we carry the day and make the return leg a mere formality.
“It is possible to win in Mali, if we got our strategy right. I have told the boys to enjoy the game and not to be under any pressure.,
“We promise not to return home empty handed.”
The Lagos church club are making their international debut, but they will be without star winger Sikiru Olatunbosun, who was not registered for this annual competition.
Several other players who are registered for the NPFL are also not involved in the Champions League.
MFM FC have held their own at home in the NPFL this season, but have struggled outside Lagos.
They are 13th on the table with nine points after seven rounds of matches.
