Abdu Maikaba – Akwa United coach now linked with Flying Eagles top post

Chairman NFF Technical Committee Ahmed Yusuf Fresh has said coaches for the Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles have not yet been appointed contrary to media reports earlier today.

In an exclusive interview with SCORENigeria, the Niger State FA chairman debunked speculations that Manu Garba will handle the U17s, while Abdu Maikaba to take over the Flying Eagles, but promised that appointments to various unoccupied positions would be announced soon.

“The appointment of coaches for the U17, U20 and U23 national teams would be concluded and announced soon to the public,” he said.

“The NFF are yet to make any official announcement of the coaches who have been appointed to the age grade categories of the national Teams, so my advice to the public would be to disregard any list being circulated in the media as it is a product of some persons’ imagination.”

The vice chairman of the referee appointment committee continued by pointing out that the aim was not just to appoint coaches, but to get things right with whoever is appointed so as drive youth Football development forward in the country.

He said, “We are being meticulous in our selection process so that we do not make the same errors that resulted in our failure to qualify for the previous edition of U17 and U20 World Cups,” he added.

Ahmed Fresh concluded by promising Nigerians that only the best coaches would get the job, saying, “I can only promise Nigerian that as the chairman, NFF Technical Committee we would give our best to ensure that the right coaching appointments are made.”
