Joel Obi will be ”honoured” to play at the World Cup in Russia, according to a close confidant, just as the Torino midfielder has been cleared for Sunday’s Serie A clash against Udinese after an injury scare.
Joel Obi has won a handful of Super Eagles caps and could have won a lot more but for a series of injuries over the years.
“Joel is more than ready to play for Nigeria at the World Cup. He says it will be an honour to be in Russia,” the player’s Milan-based confidant told SCORENigeria
“And good enough he has remained healthy this season to further press for a place on the Eagles final World Cup squad.”
In the meantime, Joel Obi, 26, has been cleared for Sunday’s league clash against Udinese after he was badly kicked in the body by Sampdoria defender Bartosz Bereszynski and was forced out by the 37th minute in a 1-1 drawn game.
Both Torino and Udinese are on 33 points with ninth-placed Udinese ahead on goals difference
Joel Obi has so far made 15 appearances and netted four goals.
Last season, he made 20 appearances, but did not score any goal.
