Al Khartoum Watani demolished a resolute Shabab Nasri 5-1 in a friendly today, but coach Emmanuel Amuneke maintained his charges stay focused and not get carried away by a third straight win in the build-up to the second round of the league.
Speaking to www.scorenigeria.com.ng, the former African Footballer of the Year said, “This was our third friendly match and we have again won convincingly.
“Now we just hope that the boys do not get carried away by pre-season victories and keep pushing till the second round started.”
The coach, who is a believer in developing young players and giving them a stage , also expressed his delight in Kelechi Nzekwe performance who repaid the coach’s faith in him by scoring a brace in the encounter.
He said, “I am so impressed by Kelechi Nzekwe, who got a brace today and proved he is ready for the big stage in Sudanese league.
“Overall the team did excellently well and I am impressed with what I saw today.
“We are not there yet but we are still working on the team so as to fight even harder when the league resumes.“
